Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a form of hair removal and very superficial exfoliation for the skin. Aiming to temporarily remove superfluous, fine peach fuzz and thicker hair growth using a 10R scalpel blade.
Whether you want better product penetration, or you’re getting ready for an event that requires flawless makeup applications, dermaplaning is a fantastic, gentle treatment to treat all the above!
Dermaplaning can be a standalone treatment or used in combination with almost any of our modalities at the clinic!
MYTH: Shaving your face does NOT make the hair grow back courser or darker.
Clients who experience hormonal hair growth will note that some areas of their hair are darker or thicker than others- this is purely due to the change in hormones causing hair growth.
The illusion of thicker hair comes from the hair being cut at the thickest section of hair, so when the hair grows back this may give the appearance or sensation of increased thickness.

The clinician uses a 10R scalpel blade at a 45-degree angle to gentle remove facial hair and a very superficial layer of dead skin cells, this serves to both temporarily remove hair from the area, and as a gentle, superficial exfoliation.
This can help prep the client for a peel, laser genesis, or another treatment modality, this can also aid product penetration and smoother looking skin for makeup application.

Dermaplaning is a great alternative to at home shaving with course harsh razors, waxing and tweezing for those who cannot tolerate the pain. Dermaplaning can aid with:
Dull, dry complexion due to superfluous hair build up and excess dead skin.
Skin texture.
Removing peach fuzz.
Anyone wanting deeper product penetration.
Makeup application.

Dermaplaning is a ‘lunchtime treatment’ which can be performed within the hour as a stand-alone treatment.
Once the treatment is complete the clinician will apply a moisturiser and SPF 50 to prevent sun damage/burning.
The patient should not feel any discomfort and a mild redness may be observed for an hour after treatment. It is recommended no makeup is applied to the area for at least 8 hours and clean tools to be used on the skin to prevent breakouts or irritation.
-
Dermaplaning can be an ongoing treatment, with weekly, bi-weekly or monthly treatments to assist in the reduction of superfluous hair, product penetration or booked before an event for make-up application.
-
As the hair grows, the patient may want to book their dermaplaning treatments weekly to keep up with the hair growth, however, when dermaplaning can be performed when needed or in conjunction with another treatment modality.
-
Dermaplaning has the fantastic ability to combine with other treatments and more often a combination of treatments is the best way to achieve significant results!
Dermaplaning and LED: This will help with the reduction of facial hair, product penetration and skin concerns aided by LED.
Dermaplaning and Peels: This aids in the peel penetration, allowing for a deeper more effective peel.
Dermaplaning and laser genesis: This aids in the reduction of facial hair and the penetration of the laser whilst preventing the laser targeting the hair.
